The last time, everything happened so fast. She had some headaches, then she passed out on me. 2 days later, she was being wheeled into the OR. It happened so fast, I didn’t have time to think at all.

This time, we knew about it sooner. Of course, this increases the chance of her surviving it a lot. But its also given me time to dwell on it. To think about it.

I haven’t been sleeping much these last few weeks. My mind has been going a mile a minute. Its all I can think about anymore. I’ve lost 45 pounds since I found out. That’s not a bad thing, but it is when you’re not dieting.

This morning, about an hour and a half ago, I lost it. I was taking a shower, and I started thinking about losing her. And I just lost it. I started crying. When I was able to compose myself, I was curled up on the floor of the shower in a fetal position, being blasted with cold water. I’m still freezing from it. But all I could think about was losing her.

I can’t lose her. She is what I live for. I think I understand now how my Grandma felt when Poppy passed away suddenly. I remember hearing her say “I’ll see you soon, Howard.” I didn’t think anything of it at the time, as I was wrapped up in my own grief. 17 days later, exactly 21 days after Poppy, she passed away. She couldn’t live without him. They were married for 52 years.

I know if I say something like that, one of you will make a call to the police and lock me up on a suicide watch. I know one of you will because you all care about me. and I greatly appreciate that. But I understand finally how Grandma felt. Because I don’t think I can live without Mary. I can already feel the cracks in my heart, and we don’t even know what will happen yet.

Sorry, having some trouble seeing the screen right now. My eyes are watering up again. I can’t stop thinking about this.

Who am I talking about? Well, if you’ve watched anything on the news or the web today, its Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC), who shouted this at the President of the United States during a speech to Congress on health care last night.

Are we in Mexico? Taiwan? The Philippines? What are you going to do next, start a fistfight? Throw a shoe at the President? Ok, the last one would actually be quite funny. But I think you get the gist of it.

Even the man’s own party has turned on him. Sen. McCain said it was a “totally disgraceful” and he should “apologize immediately”. He did, within 2 hours.

Yeah, don’t expect Joe Wilson to get re-elected next year. I doubt very much that his own party will support him.

“George Bush should be put on trial for what he did in office! And we’re going to make sure it happens!”

Ok, somebody doesn’t know the law here. A former president can not be tried for acts that he may have committed while he was in office, except in the case of treason.

Do I think that George Bush committed acts that could be considered criminal while he was in office? Yes, I do.

Do these acts rise to the level of treason? No, they do not.

Therefore, no trial.

IIRC, this law was passed right after the whole Watergate scandal. And there’s another topic I’d like to cover.

I believe Nixon redeemed himself for his role in Watergate. Later in life, he became what I like to refer to as “America’s Senior Statesman.” After he left office, he did a great deal of good, and redeemed his name, in my eyes anyways.

We are fortunate to currently have 3 men who can fill that role. President Carter, President Bush Sr., and President Clinton. Yes, I called them each President. That is the correct usage. They are still called President after they leave office. People forget that, and use “former president” constantly. I think that’s disgraceful.

President Carter did it a lot during President Clinton’s administration, but not so much now. Which is understandable. After all, he is 85 years old. So now President Clinton does most of that work, since he is quite younger. And he is doing a good job at it, as evidenced by the recent North Korea trip. This is EXACTLY the thing that America’s Senior Statesman should be doing.

After more than 2 years with Vehemence, I left. My reasons are detailed below. Before I say anything about why I left, I want to make a statement.

I have no hard feelings towards anyone in Vehemence. The two years I spent with them were some of the greatest times I ever had. I hope I can stay friends with everyone.

Now, as to why I left. The guild has become stagnant. Its not growing. They haven’t brought in a new member, except alts, in 6 months. I tried, but people say they never heard of Vehemence. when the rep we used to have was that we were respected by both factions.

Two, the guild bank being inviolate is stupid. Yeah, I took out a whole bunch of frostweave cloth. To make frostweave bags for people. What, did you think I was going to sell it? And 18 gold a stack? Come on. Since I had already converted it to bolts of frostweave, I bought all of that cloth to give back to you. I paid top dollar for them. 4 gold a stack. I don’t know where you came up with 18 gold a stack. Maybe when Wrath first came out, but not now.

Three, and this one hurts to even say. There isn’t a guild leader anymore. I love Stacey. I really do. And I know and understand how bad off she is right now. I’d do anything to not see her go through any of this. But, I can’t. And the Guild suffers badly without its guild leader. Ruling by council doesn’t work in a WoW guild. It just doesn’t.

Four, raid progression has died. I know, this was never supposed to be the focus of the guild. But how hard is it to get 10 people on a Friday night out of a supposed 200 people to run a raid?

So, there it is. All laid out. Love me or hate me for it, whichever. I’m in a new guild now, Bloodwell of Eternity. They’re a new guild, and they’re just getting started with gearing up for raids, and my experience will help them alot. And they already have another guild to run 25 man’s with as well, Pick Up Group. Just have to work out a few kinks. And they made me an officer within 2 days! Shows they have some brains.

Patch 3.2 dropped this week. Now, I usually don’t play Battlegrounds, so I haven’t seen the Island of Conquest Battleground yet. Hell, I haven’t even done the Stand of the Ancients yet. But I have done a fair number of Wintergrasp battlegrounds. So I can’t comment on the new BG, but alot of people seem to be excited over it. Supposedly some large scale battles going on there.

But I do like doing a lot of instances, and have been through the new Trial of the Crusader instance three times in the last 2 days. I like it. Quite a bit actually. The loot just on regular difficulty is on par with a Naxxramus 10 man raid. I haven’t done heroic difficulty yet, because the character I’m playing now is only level 79, and you have to be level 80 to do heroics (today, I promise).

The jousting part in the first section, I could do without. I don’t like their jousting mechanic. It’s clunky. And the transition from jousting to fighting is bad. The mobs should wait at least 30 seconds after the last one is dismounted for you to re-equip your main weapon instead of the lance you have to use while mounted. The transition is bad. The tank has great difficulty getting aggro, and the group wipes easily. It has happened every time. The only time I didn’t die was once when I was so far out of range that I got the “leaving combat” notice.

The fight right after the joust is great. You fight hand to hand against the champions you just fought mounted. And you get a different combination each time. Since I’m Horde, (BLOOD AND GLORY! FOR THE WARCHIEF!) we fight the Alliance champions. Human champion is a Warrior. Dwarf as well. Gnome is a Mage. Night Elf is a Hunter. Draenei is a Paladin. Weird thing with the Draeni, he does cast lightning bolts like a Shaman, but he’s a Paladin. Very weird.

After you wipe and come back, you start with the three champions. The fight is rather easy after that. They each only have about 185k hp. And nothing special. Its a simple tank and spank. No worse than three trash mobs in Naxxramus. When they go down, you get the loot chest.

The next fight is kinda nice. You get either the Argent Confessor, Paletress, or Eadric the Pure, a Paladin. I’ve always gotten Eadric, so I can only comment on him. He brings 9 trash mobs with him. You take them out in groups of three each. Easy. Then you get him. Its rather an easy fight. Mostly tank and spank. But he does two funky things. First is his Radience. This is an AOE that hits everybody facing him for about 4500 holy damage(I was in mail, so that’s the number I get). The way to avoid it? Turn around and look away. Real easy. Second is a Hammer of Righteousness that he throws at a random player, I think. I’ve gotten it once, and it did 14k damage. He does each a number of times. When he is defeated (you don’t actually kill him, or the first group either. They yield. “Well done, well done. Can I run away now?” actual quote.) the treasure chest drops.

The last is the Black Knight. But, you already defeated him in the tournament to get here. Not so fast. Do you think an agent of the Lich King could be bested by a puny mortal? This one has three phases. First, he kills the announcer. Then he raises him as an undead ghoul. Then you fight him. Tank and spank. When he dies, he is resurrected. And you fight him again, with some adds. When he dies this time, he comes back in spectral form. This one is harder, because he casts this kind of debuff (I didn’t catch the name) that hits you for about 2500 a tick, and everybody gets it. and you can’t remove it, you have to heal through it. And then he dies, and you get the chest. And you’re done.

Overall, quite a nice refreshing change from all of the complicated crap Blizzard has done recently. I look forward to heroic and the raids.

8. Sheila Bair is an example of what you should be like. If you don’t know who that is, she’s the head of the FDIC, who believes she works for the people, not the banks.

So, in short, enough with the kiddie stuff, start being adults.

Am I surprised? No.

Am I surprised the guy actually WALKED out of there? Knowing my aunt, YES!

And in a few hours, Farrah Fawcett will be laid to rest in California.

A CNN article [here] got me to thinking. This article is absolutely true. She was the last of the great pinup girls. Not too many actresses or models ever use posters to market themselves anymore. Yes, you see their pics all over the net, but none really have had themselves on the bedroom wall of every young teenager or single guy in America. Not like Farrah did. Sure, the article mentions Pamela Anderson as having done it. But Pamela Anderson is nowhere in Farrah’s class. She makes Pamela look like a two bit tramp with big knockers.

I had that poster when I was a kid. My brother and I shared a room, and that poster was on the wall across from the foot of my bed, so I could see it every morning when I woke up. Silly, isn’t it? But hey, I was a hormonal teenager then. Of course, all my friends had one just like it. It was like a teenager’s right of passage. Get your driver’s license, kiss a girl for the first time, hang up your Farrah Fawcett poster.

There are no more pinup girls. With the internet, we can now watch our favorite TV and movie stars in their very own home-made sex tape. And they release it as a career move, to make themselves more famous. Oh, they whine and complain about it, but they do nothing. They don’t have anybody arrested. They don’t sue anybody. Nothing. If somebody did that to you or me (And trust me, there are no videos of me, other than some really bad lip-syncing. Nobody has to, nor wants to, watch my fat ass bouncing up and down) they’d be in jail for theft, amongst other charges, so fast your head would spin. But not them. They do it for another 15 minutes of fame. The latest one was Hoops Martin. You know, the one who won the 1st Flavor of Love, and banged Flava Flave. No accounting for taste, I suppose. And having seen the tape, and scrubbing my eyeballs with lye afterward, she has zero taste. Not even attractive, IMHO.

So, the last of the true pinup girls is gone. But a whole generation, mine, will never forget how long we stared at her in our bedrooms, fantasizing. Good night, Miss Farrah. We shall miss you.

Who gets more press coverage?

The pedophile.

I don’t know about anybody else, but I am disgusted with all of the news coverage this week. Here we have three people die.

First, Ed McMahon. Loved by millions. Entertained people for decades at 11:30 on NBC. And he died almost a pauper.

Then Farrah Fawcett. A beautiful actress, who’s poster was on millions of teenager’s walls. Who was afflicted with cancer and allowed us into her home and her life to document it. And who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.

And finally Michael Jackson. Yes, he was a great entertainer. But the man was an obvious and unrepentant pedophile and drug addict, who’s heart obviously exploded finally.

Is it me, or is anybody else as disgusted as I am? This all makes me want to vomit right now. Why do people care more about the pedophile dropping dead than a beautiful woman, with a wonderful heart, succumbing to her long suffering illness? Is this what our value system is today? If it is, somebody stop the world, because I want to leave.
